The opportunity / Te Whiwhinga mahi

We are looking for someone experienced and passionate about business management with an interest in tertiary teaching on our Marlborough campus. These business paper(s) are associated with the Viticulture and Winemaking Qualifications. This opportunity is part time, fixed term covering 2nd semester (July to November), face to face (approx 4 hours pw) and some online. Planning and marking are required. Some flexibility about student contact and teaching hours is negotiable. An adult teaching qualification is not required, as mentorship will be provided.  An adult teaching qualification is not required, as mentorship will be provided.

You will need to have an interest in teaching some or all of the following topic areas -  leadership, management, business planning, marketing, HR, accounting and finance.  There are additional business papers coming up in the next few months so there is future potential for this role to grow.

The ideal person will bring strong business experience and credibility, passion, and excellent people and leadership skills to this role.

The key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Planning, organising, delivering and assessing course content. This includes theory and practical, work and study skills
  • Assessing and supporting learners to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Managing learner progress toward completion of qualifications.
  • Helping learners to plan for and move into the next step on their training or career pathway.
  • Keeping accurate learner records and completing paperwork to a high standard.

About you / He kōrero mōu

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • An applied business background (or knowledge/experience) in 2-3 of these subject areas would be ideal.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of regional and industry trends, demands and standards applicable to business management.
  • Excellent communication and team skills along with a strong sense of fun, creativity, innovation and passion.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet standards, deadlines and targets
  • An adult teaching and assessment qualification is desirable but not essential.
