The opportunity / Te Whiwhinga mahi

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become an integral part of the Te Pūkenga trading as NMIT Aviation School at RNZAF Base Woodbourne. We are looking for a full-time (36 hours) Aviation tutor with a broad range skills and knowledge in general aircraft maintenance engineering.

The ideal applicant would have at least 5 years practical experience as a Aeronautical Maintenance Engineer with very good knowledge in systems such as weight and balance, aerodynamics, structures, mechanical systems, electrical fundamentals, flight control and propulsion.

This position would suit a Aeronautical Maintenance Engineer, who is looking to share their knowledge and experience with learners and also enjoys being a learner at the same time.

The key responsibilities for the role are:

  • Planning, organizing, delivering and assessing course content. This includes theory and practical, work and study skills.
  • Assessing and supporting learners to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Managing learners progress towards completion of qualifications.
  • Helping learners to plan for and move into the next step on their training or career pathway.
  • Keeping accurate learner records and completing paperwork to a high standard.

About you / He kōrero mōu

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Aircraft maintenance experience on aircraft with an appropriate trade qualification such as; NZCAA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's License or RNZAF/Allied Military Trade Training qualifications or equivalent.
  • Skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours that align to NZCAA- Fit and Proper Person criteria.
  • It is desirable that you have teaching experience or be willing to learning and developing this skill.
  • An adult teaching and assessment qualification is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
