Our Department


The School of Physiotherapy strives to provide excellence in physiotherapy teaching, research, and clinical practice. Our focus is primarily on the assessment, treatment, and prevention of physical dysfunction, and in the promotion of health for people of all ages. Research and knowledge transfer are key elements of the School's activities managed through our dedicated Centre for Health, Activity, and Rehabilitation Research or CHARR.


The role


The Assistant Research Fellow will provide research support and assistance on the iSelf-help Research Project. A high level of research experience is a must for this interesting role.


With supervisory support and oversight, contribute to Professor Leigh Hale’s research by:
• Providing managerial and administrative support for this research project.
• Liaising with other researchers within the School of Physiotherapy, within the University of Otago, and with external stakeholders.
• Collecting and analysing data.
• Undertaking literature reviews in support of research proposals, ethics applications, grant applications and publications.
• Contributing to the preparation of research documents including papers for publication, project progress reports, media releases and ethical applications.


Your skills and experience


• A Master’s degree or higher (e.g. PhD).
• Research management experience. Trial management experience would be beneficial.
• Data management experience.
• Research experience in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
• Research experience/interest in self –management of health conditions and/or health technology.
• Good computer skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and preferably Endnote, RedCap, SPSS and NVivo.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Preferably with a publication track-record.
• Attention to details and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritise and keep track of work as well as establishing and maintaining relevant and accurate records.
• Self-starter, who can work independently and as part of a team.

This is a part-time (0.4FTE), fixed-term position for 20 months.
