DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY AND TOXICOLOGY / TE TARI PĀNGA MATŪ About our team/Mō te tīma The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Otago is a research-intensive department with a focus on developing drugs to treat important conditions, such as cancer, diabetes, neurological conditions and heart disease. The Department is also committed to high quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The role/Te mahi A full-time, fixed term Assistant Research Fellow position is available in the Glass Laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. This project is an exciting opportunity to join a collaboration between the Department and researchers at Research Triangle Institute (RTI) North Carolina to characterise novel synthetic cannabinoids as they emerge onto the recreational market. The Otago group will perform in vitro characterisation of the compounds using a range of cell based signalling and binding assays. Experience in cell culture and molecular biology techniques along with strong organisational, data analysis, written and verbal communication skills are essential.
