Our Department

The Department of General Practice and Rural Health is an academic unit within the Dunedin School of Medicine. It was the first university department of general practice in New Zealand and is one of the oldest in the world.

Staff in our department come from a wide variety of disciplines and are involved in teaching and research in the fields of general practice and primary care.

The role

As an Assistant Research Fellow, you will join our team working on the Health Research Council (HRC) Project: Do regional DHB groupings improve service integration and health outcomes?

This research aims to improve healthcare for New Zealanders through studying the four regional District Health Board (DHB) groupings which together cover all of New Zealand.

The main components of the role include:
• Recruitment of study participants.
• Undertaking interviews and focus groups.
• Data analysis.
• Assisting with the preparation of academic publications and presentations.

Your skills and experience

• PhD research qualification desirable.
• Research experience, in both qualitative and quantitative health research methods, and analysis of policies from various stakeholders’ perspectives, or equivalent experience.

This is a part-time (0.4 FTE), fixed term position until September 2020 ( up to 14 months)
