Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
This role will support the director of Gateway Antarctica to deliver teaching and practical exercises in both satellite and airborne remote sensing and Antarctic studies for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

You will contribute to glaciological remote sensing research, all while building a strong CV in remote sensing and related glaciological research.

You will have an active involvement in co-supervision of postgraduate researchers and contribution to the SEE research environment.

Mōu | Who You Are
To be considered, you will hold a PhD in the field of Glaciology and remote sensing and have a promising publication track record in the field of remote sensing and/or glaciology.

You should also have:

  • Good knowledge of Python or any other high level scripting language.
  • Proven practice and proficiency with high resolution optical and radar satellite image data.
  • Experience with data processing with proprietary and public-domain software such as ENVI and ESA SNAP.
  • Experience in cloud computing using Google Earth Engine.
  • Drone data skills in Aegisoft metashape and GIS software (such ArcGIS and QGIS).
  • Some experience in teaching GIS and remote sensing is a significant advantage.

This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Academic Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies: Assistant Lecturer $72,433-$80,502 for full time equivalent ($57,946-$64,401.6 for 0.8 FTE).
