Assistant Laboratory Technicians - Fixed Term x 2 - Manaaki Whenua

We are looking for two capable assistant laboratory technicians to join our soil and plant chemistry team based in Palmerston North. 

About the opportunity

These positions contribute to the successful operation of our IANZ accredited Environmental Chemistry Laboratory. Both roles involve performing a range of soil and plant analytical tasks in accordance with established methods and standards using a range of analytical instruments (ICP, TOC, FIA, LECO), and both involve tasks that need to be undertaken in a timely, accurate manner, and according to appropriate quality assurance processes.

These are full-time fixed-term (3 months) positions based at our Palmerston North site, working under the operational guidance of senior laboratory staff and managers, and reporting to a Capability Leader in the Soils & Landscapes Team.

About you

You will have a tertiary or technical qualification in soil science, environmental science, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline. General laboratory abilities are expected, including skills in the handling, preparing, and analyzing soil, plant and water samples, along with an ability to collate data and report to a high standard of accuracy. You will have a strong safety and quality-management focus, an ability to work to high standards within deadlines, and great communication skills. As an assistant technician, the ability to follow instructions clearly and seek further direction if needed, is paramount.
