HEALTH SCIENCES DIVISONAL OFFICE

Are you seeking an entry-level role in an interesting environment where no two days are the same? A vacancy has arisen for two Assistant Animal Care Technicians to support research activities at the Biomedical Research Facility.

The role/Te mahi

We are looking for two Assistant Animal Care Technicians to help within our Facilities.

Duties are varied and will include:
•    Providing daily animal husbandry and care for a range of animals.
•    Maintaining and managing breeding colonies of animals under conventional and specific pathogen free conditions.
•    Cleaning animal holding pens and facility sanitisation.
•    Operation of cage-wash machines and autoclaves.

Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

•    A Veterinary Care qualification or equivalent experience.
•    Must have basic computer literacy skills.
•    Confidence in operating technical equipment, and/or prior animal handling experience would be an advantage.
•    Applicants should have a reasonable level of fitness as the work requires heavy lifting.

There are two full time, permanent positions available, located in Dunedin.

Weekend and Statutory holiday work will be required on a rostered basis.
