Position Overview

Are you a positive, detail-orientated, and confident Administrator?

Come and join the SHORE & Whariki Research Centre team at Massey University. The Centre is off-campus in Grafton, central Auckland and is where this position is based.

As the successful candidate, you will enjoy applying and developing a wide range of skills in an interesting and supportive research environment. The position will be 30 hours a week during business hours Monday to Friday, start and finish times can be negotiated.  This role is available to start immediately.

The role has varied responsibilities from front-of-house reception, and general and finance administration to operational support, event coordination, website administration, basic IT support, and much more.  So, you will need to bring the following skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, such as a polite and professional when working with a range of people face-to-face and on the phone
  • Proficient with MS office and the ability to learn new systems and IT skills
  • Confidence when dealing with ad-hoc queries that may require some problem-solving and a calm approach to multitasking

You must have recent administrative & finance experience and strong communication skills. Previous work experience in a research environment is desirable but not essential.

The SHORE & Whariki Research Centre are two multidisciplinary research groups working in a Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership model to produce excellent research with the aim of improving health and wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand, and globally. 

Our team is a great mix of academics, students, and professionals who are successful in their respective areas and who value each other and work well together.  An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a desire to learn more about tikanga Māori will be advantageous.
