Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Administrator to join the College of Sciences to provide comprehensive, high quality administration support within the recently formed Finance and Research Administration team.


The College of Sciences - Te Wāhanga Pūtaiao seeks innovative solutions to challenges facing our world, with expertise in areas such as agriculture, construction, food technology and veterinary science. We are research-led and provide transformative learning experiences to prepare our students for success in their chosen fields and deliver globally relevant solutions to fundamental and applied scientific challenges.

Roles available at this time will support the finance and research administration functions across Manawatū and Auckland campuses.


It is expected that the successful candidate will be motivated, a team player, a good communicator, and capable of independent thinking.


Applicants must have at least 3 years of work experience in a role that involves office administration activities with a reputed organisation, and experience and understanding of financial processes is essential. Experience with a tertiary organisation will be an advantage.


You will bring:

  • Solid problem solving and organisation skills.
  • A high level of personal integrity, initiative, and confidentiality.
  • Experience in serving major and complex committees.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with University systems and processes (ideally) including CiA/TechOne, FlexiPurchase, SharePoint, Power BI, Rapid, SMS and online travel bookings, or other purchasing systems.


The position will be based on the Manawatū campus in Palmerston North.

  • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills, being receptive and helpful when dealing with a diverse range of people within the University and externally.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to handle varying levels of complexity and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, with a high level of maturity, initiative, and personal integrity.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to question.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
