Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an Accessible Assessment Coordinator. This role is one of several Disability Services service coordinators that implement services for students with disabilities in collaboration with staff and volunteers. The service coordinators have a strong coordination and communication focus along with a commitment to providing high quality services. Each coordinator has a specific work area focus, for this role that is coordination of accessible assessment arrangements. However, the roles are interchangeable so at times the work may include support staff coordination.

This role is responsible for ensuring that disabled students can undertake their assessment equitably and receive a seamless, timely, and quality service. To achieve this the Accessible Assessment Coordinator works closely with other Disability Services staff and liaises between Disability Services and school administration staff, or exam coordinators in Tītoko, to administer accessible assessment arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively gather detailed information about course assessment requirements from course outlines and collate these in the Disability Services database.
  • Liaise with Disability Services Academic Inclusion Coordinator, Tītoko exam coordinators and school administration staff to implement accessible assessment arrangements, ensuring strong and timely communication and proactive identification of issues.
  • Regularly communicate with disabled students about their assessment arrangements to ensure they are informed about this service and any responsibilities they have.
  • Provide regular reports to the manager on the availability of assessment information, quantity and type of assessment arrangements, the student experience, and improvements on ways we can work with other parts of the University to increase efficiency and student satisfaction.

  • Commitment to application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in an educational context.
  • Proven experience in a coordination or administrative role.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to stay calm and focused in a fast paced environment.
  • Proven experience in identifying and creating innovative systems solutions.
  • Computer experience in the Microsoft Office suite of applications and databases.
  • Proven experience in delivering excellent customer service.
  • Proven experience in adapting to change and influencing others to create change.
  • Proven positive interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving.
  • Knowledge and experience of the University environment.

This role requires safety checking through the police vetting system under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
