Me mātau te tangata ki Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga, ka mutu, me mātau ki te whakaako i te reo Māori ki a ngāi Māori, ki ngā iwi kē atu rānei. Ka whakahaerehia te hōtaka reo nei mā te ipurangi engari he āheinga ki te whakawhiti korero ki te kaiako, ki te kaihāpai rānei.

We are looking for an Academic Staff Member to join us by assisting in development and then teaching our new te reo Māori programme Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Reo Rua)(Te Kaupae 2), New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo (Bilingual)(Level 2). 

This position can be based at our Lower Hutt campus, or flexible.

Reporting to the Programme Delivery Manager, you will:

  • Be involved in the development of Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Reo Rua)(Te Kaupae 2)
  • Facilitate the delivery of courses in accordance with Tikanga Māori and Mātauranga Māori
  • Ensure that content is referenced and quality assured as necessary
  • Facilitate the delivery of courses using interactive technology in accordance with Open Polytechnic Ako Learning and teaching strategy and best practice for online Learning
  • Provide feedback to the Programme Delivery Manager on course and programme delivery matters
  • Provide feedback on course materials and assessment to appropriate Principal Learning Designers as necessary

Ko ōu pūkenga│ Your skill base:

  • Me matatau ki te kōrero me te whakaako i te reo Māori me ōna tikanga
  • Me matatau ki ngā tikanga Māori me tirohanga e tika ai te whāngai mā te ipurangi hei waka whakaako
  • He whāngai, he whakatauira anō hoki i te reo kia rere, i te reo kia tika, i te reo kia Māori
  • He manaaki, he tiaki i te mana o te ākonga, o ngā hoa kaimahi anō hoki
  • He kaha nōu ki te āta whakawhitiwhiti kōrero, whakaaro rānei ki tō kaiārahi

Hei āpitihanga │ In addition:

  • Diploma (Level 6) qualification or equivalence in Te Reo Māori or higher 
  • Experience in teaching Te Reo Māori and/or tikanga
  • Education or teaching qualification, preferably in open distant flexible learning (ODFL) such as the New Zealand Certificate in Adult tertiary Teaching (Level 5) or equivalent and New Zealand Certificate in Adult Numeracy and Literacy Education or commitment to enrolment in study towards attainment. 
  • Teaching or tutoring skills with abilities to specify learning requirements and to present them in a wide variety of contexts 
  • Ability to facilitate online learning at scale using digital technologies 
  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships
