Toi Ohomai delivers quality vocational education and training to both domestic and international students, across five main campuses in Rotorua, Tauranga, Taupō, Tokoroa and Whakatāne, and numerous delivery sites across the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato. 

Toi Ohomai is now a division of Te Pūkenga – New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology and part of a transformational change unifying all 16 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics across Aotearoa; together with other work-based, provider-based and online learning. This position is for an Academic Staff Member (ASM) - Information Technology in the Faculty of Business, Design and Service Industries. This part-time role involves teaching on our IT programmes in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Programming. 

As an Academic Staff Member within this team, you will be required to:

  • Teach in the classroom and online
  • Provide tutorial and academic support to students
  • Research, review, and update resources and teaching materials
  • Set and mark assessments
  • Enter student results
  • Prepare appropriate reports and documentation for students results approval
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Travel between campuses within the region may be required. 

The desired skills, experience and qualifications for this role include:

  • Relevant IT Degree or work experience
  • Expertise/experience in the following areas: Artifical Intelligence, Programming using C#, and other languages
  • Experience in teaching or training adult learners is preferred
  • Experience working with and supporting cultures different from your own
