Academic Leadership - Master of Creative and Cultural Practices + Spatial Design

  • Opportunity to join an ambitious design culture and lead in two areas of the School of Art and Design
  • Opportunity to contribute to strengths in practice-led studio and postgrad teaching and research
  • Opportunity to help the School of Art and Design increase staff and student diversity

The School of Art and Design is seeking to make a 1-year fixed term contract appointment for a combined leadership role across two areas. This blended role combines a proportion of the fixed term for directing the Master of Creative and Cultural Practices postgraduate program, plus a new Curriculum Leader role for the Bachelor of Design (Spatial Design) degree programme.

This position will involve active leadership and management of programme resources, prioritising student experience from recruitment to learning outcomes to completion, following a human-centred design approach consistent with the ethos of the School. The combined role will involve working with two different staff and student cohorts, so expert agility will be desirable. The ability to lead by example, to work within a distributed leadership model, and to focus on maintaining diversity and disciplinary strengths are expected. A professional or postgraduate degree in Spatial Design, and expertise in Creative and Cultural Practices is required. Prior applicable academic or professional leadership experience is required.

What kind of person we are looking for

  • Creative problem-solver, agile thinker, strong vision for studio culture(s) and curriculum
  • Capable of working with multiple stakeholders in a distributed leadership model
  • Solid knowledge of university-level design programme standards

The School of Art and Design is moving through a recalibration and focusing of leadership, research, and pedagogy.
