Are you a flavoromics specialist experienced in conducting metabolomics and sensory studies?

What you will be doing | Ngā whāinga matua
In this new position, you will apply a flavoromics approach to the study of food and horticulture products, to design and deliver research that investigates consumer perceptions. Drawing on your strengths in leadership and collaboration, you will be:
- Leading a new team who are establishing strategic priorities and developing new research projects (Government, Industry or Plant & Food Research (PFR) funded)
- Designing applied research projects with commercial customers and partners, including proposal development, budgeting, and reporting
- Working with a wide industry networks and have the ability to attract new revenue streams from both government and industry sources
- Advancing scientific knowledge, developing and applying technologies in the food and horticulture industries in New Zealand

What you will bring | Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako
To be successful in this role, the minimum qualifications required are:
- A tertiary qualification (ideally PhD) in analytical chemistry, or a related field (flavour chemistry, sensory science, metabolomics)
- At least five years post Doctorate working as a scientist in a flavoromics or flavour chemistry field relevant to the horticulture, arable and food industries and experienced in mass spectrometry and other relevant analytical platforms
- Ability to run sensory panels to collect samples for subsequent analysis of flavour molecules
- A strong portfolio of scientific and industry publications in chemistry/ metabolomics/ flavoromics/ chemometrics
- Strengths in people leadership
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally if required.
