What you will be doing

This is an exciting new opportunity to work collaboratively with the the organisation's key stakeholders to drive the delivery of the capital programme and major projects.  Using your experience and expertise, you will improve governance, processes and programming of capital delivery and support the organisation in the development of major projects, key infrastructure and property initiatives from inception through to completion.  This will include operating as a programme manager for key programmes of work for the Infrastructure or Science groups, problem solving and identifying emerging issues and risks.  A proven collaborator, you will contribute to business cases, ensure robust programme and project management plans, and compliance with statutory guidelines, monitor budgets, engage with external partners and provide regular reporting and communication updates.

What you will need

  • Ideally a degree qualification in engineering, property management or a building related subject
  • At least 10 years' experience in the delivery of construction/building/property projects or programmes
  • Knowledge and experience of capital delivery governance processes including the development of business cases
  • Familiarity and understanding of the Building Act and Resource Consent processes and knowledge of the Resource Management Act would also be of benefit
  • Experience overseeing the establishment and maintenance of robust programme and project management plans and proven project management skills and ability to see a job through to completion.
  • Demonstrated capability in working collaboratively across an organisation or large teams to deliver capital infrastructure or property projects
  • Demonstrated understanding of contract management principles and contract preparation would be advantageous
  • Flexibility to travel within New Zealand will be essential
