What you will be doing

Statistical Science is an integral component of the research conducted at Plant & Food Research.  We have an exciting opportunity for a Statistical Scientist to provide statistical leadership and expertise in collaboration with our research staff working in a wide range of fields across the organisation.  You will apply statistical techniques to advance the work of internal collaborators, collaborate with external clients and lead projects in statistical science.  This will see you undertake high impact analyses, ensure research is statistically sound and communicate results to colleagues and industry.  You will grow and support data science and domain-specific science working within an experienced Statistical Science team.

What you will need

You'll have a postgraduate degree or advanced diploma in statistics or a related field, preferably with several years of experience in analysing biological data. You'll combine a broad knowledge of statistics and well-developed skills in statistical programming (R and/or Python), data management and coding with the ability to investigate datasets of varying sizes and practical knowledge of the principles of reproducible research.  Well-developed communication and relationship skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a wide range of diverse staff will be essential.  Proficiency in Git and the use of digital notebooks would be advantageous.
