What you will be doing

You will add value to the cereal breeding research team managing the production of high grade breeder's seed, maintaining seed stocks and providing a seed cleaning service for small high value seed lines and regional industry cereal trials. Your excellent attention to detail and record keeping will ensure outcomes for clients and PFR breeding teams are completed and delivered on time.  This diverse role will see you operating experimental machinery from time to time, together with supervising our casual employees during the busy seasonal periods. You will be instrumental in achieving accreditation for seed sampling, seed importing, and exporting.

What you will need

  • Undergraduate degree, diploma or technical qualification, or equivalent knowledge and experience. Knowledge of cereal agronomy and arable industry, with experience in seed production would be advantageous.
  • Experience using and operating agricultural machinery and seed dressing equipment.
  • An organised and methodical mind-set.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective and collegial working relationships with a diverse range of people.
  • A flexibility to work outside of normal working hours due to seasonal demands.
  • A GrowSafe certification or a willingness to learn and complete the certification will be required.
  • A full driver's license and an HT license is advantageous.
