What you will be doing

This position will coordinate and conduct stakeholder and consumer science research on a range of projects, and interact with other science teams and external clients, to deliver on Plant & Food Research's (PFR) strategic direction. Responsibilities include participating in the planning, scheduling and co-ordinating of detailed phases of work, conducting fieldwork and analyses, and report writing/publication crafting.

An additional responsibility includes taking an active role in developing and implementing new approaches in stakeholder and consumer science.  A central component of this position will be the use of qualitative methods; some experience with quantitative methods would be of benefit. 

What you will need

  • Ideally a PhD in social science or a related relevant field (e.g. marketing, psychology, consumer behaviour)
  • Experience with interpretivist design, methodologies, and analyses
  • Expertise in qualitative methods for consumer research, with a proven track record in preparing written reports.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and expertise in facilitating the completion of projects on time and to high standards
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • An ability to develop and maintain key industrial relationships
  • Willingness and ability to participate in evening research on occasion, and travel outside of Auckland (including overseas) as required for research project completion.
  • A full New Zealand drivers licence
