Updated: over 2 years ago
Deadline: 24 Sep 2021

Description

Plant & Food Research (PFR) is a New Zealand science company delivering research and development designed to grow competitive advantage for clients in the horticulture, wine, cropping, seafood and associated high value food sectors worldwide.

Our summer studentship programme creates a special "career experience" for high calibre candidates. Our unique programme includes a full induction training day, a career planning session identifying potential pathways, a specific project - designed for you, as well as a final farewell and awards function.

Duties

The primary project would be to update our existing clause bank and precedent database.  This would involve reviewing, comparing and categorising PFR contracts and creating an improved resource that would help to make the legal team more efficient.  The process would give the student exposure to a variety of commercial deals that they wouldn't at University.  It would be ideal for a student that has a commercial law focus.

We would also line up some research topics such as:

  • Comparative research into benefit sharing arrangements pursuant to the Nagoya protocol (this would be of benefit to our Māori engagement work)
  • Current topics that any team members would like an in depth analysis of.

Criteria for the Position

The candidate should be methodical and organised with a good sense of humour.

Aim of project and nature of duties/techniques:

  • Will be several years into study toward an LLB or conjoint degree including LLB/Bcom or LLB/BSC.
  • Computer skills/typing skills would be a distinct advantage - MSWord
  • Any experience designing clause bank or database.
