What you will be doing

This varied role will see you essential in directing and accomplishing fundamental and applied research in piscine cell culture with an overall aim of supporting fish health in aquaculture.  You will lead and initiate research in the areas of fish cell biology including isolation, culture, and characterisation of cells with subsequent applications, together with preparing peer reviewed scientific publications, funding applications and client reports.

What you will need

To be successful in this role, you will need a PhD in molecular/cell biology, microbiology, immunology, or a related discipline with at least 3 years relevant work experience - ideally in an R&D environment. You will have proven expertise in culture and application of in vitro cell culture models from vertebrates with a track record of publication in peer reviewed journals, presentations, and/or patents, together with cell culture techniques, immunocytochemistry, general molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA and RNA extraction, cloning, qPCR, gene editing), protein analysis (e.g. gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting) and microbial expression systems.  You will have excellent intercommunication skills as you will be dealing with a diverse range of people.
