Better Border Biosecurity (B3) is a multi-partner, co-operative science collaboration that researches ways to reduce the entry and establishment of new plant pests and diseases in New Zealand. The collaboration includes Plant & Food Research, AgResearch, Scion, Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research, the Bio-Protection Research Centre, Ministry for Primary Industries, Department of Conservation, Forest Owners Association and Horticulture NZ.
About the Role
You will maintain the relationships needed to support an effective communications group across all B3 parties, enhance B3's communication systems and deliver a communications plan based on the B3 strategy and business plan. You will develop, write and publish targeted press releases on B3 science and optimise and maintain the B3 website. Supporting relevant stakeholders on effective digital communication strategies and co-ordinating B3's involvement in stakeholder events and hui.
About You
You will have experience in public communications and/or public relations including with iwi along with demonstrated experience writing for a variety of audiences and media channels. With outstanding verbal and written communication skills you will have proven ability in building relationships and driving collaboration with a positive, can-do attitude. Your experience in digital communications, ability to work autonomously and excellent time management skills will be essential. A tertiary qualification in science and/or knowledge of plant science sectors (agriculture, horticultural, forestry) and, ideally, biosecurity would be advantageous.
