What you will be doing
We have an opportunity for a Bioinformatician to join our Molecular and Digital Breeding Group to support the application and development of Bioinformatics, Data Science, and Informatics Technologies solutions which can be applied to plant and fish breeding, commercial projects, and fundamental research for biological knowledge generation. Using your broad knowledge of Bioinformatics you will provide effective analysis and support to a diverse range of research employees. You will lead data-driven large scale computational analysis, including the application of statistical methods to large data sets derived from multiple sources.
What you will need
To be successful in this role, you will be proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, or Bash, and have sound expertise in statistical application to genomic data. You will be consultative by nature, be a collaborative team member, with excellent written and verbal communication skills as you will be working with a diverse range of people across the organisation. You will thrive on working in an environment where you can utilize your analytical skills.
This is a permanent fulltime position, which could be located at our Lincoln, Te Puke, or Nelson Research Centre, dependent upon the successful applicant.
