Our team and mission

The Technology Programmes Office is responsible for:

  • managing the General Support Technology Programme (GSTP) and the Technology Development Element within the Basic Activities, including the definition of the associated work plans and monitoring of implementation and assessment of achievements. 
  • communicating, disseminating, and archiving results of all R&D activities supporting and organising training on technology matters.
  • maintaining the technology website of the Directorate, in coordination with the communication officer. 
  • providing support to Member States in preparing and implementing national technology R&D programmes and projects via collaborative activities and third-party services.
  • leading efforts on technology breakthroughs, innovation, and spin-in.

Field(s) of activity/research for the traineeship

As a Young Graduate Trainee, you will gather knowledge on technology activity management and processes, as well as investigate recent developments and reported best-practices and proven methodologies in the field of technology R&D management.

You will also evaluate the technologies developed within the technology programmes to analyse the main objectives and the origin of those activities (e.g., follow-up of Discovery and Preparation studies, technology push, project needs, technology portfolio), with regards to achievement assessment.

In addition, you will support the dissemination of results and lessons-learned within the Agency, with Member State delegates and with industry and partners, as well as various initiative to achieve the industrial policy objectives.

Finally, through contact with ESA experts, you will contribute to knowledge management; you will gather knowledge of state-of-the-art and future technologies, understanding of ESA collaboration with Member States and partners, and of the European Space Industry landscape.

Education

You should have just completed or be in the final year of your master’s degree in a technical or scientific discipline.


Additional requirements

You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work in a multicultural environment, both independently and as part of a team.

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.

During the interview motivation and overall professional perspective/career goals will also be explored.
