Webmaster at EDLAB (0.6-0.8 FTE)

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Deadline: today

Maastricht University (UM) is looking for a webmaster to work in the Technology-Enhanced Education (TEE-)programme . The webmaster will support the programmes goals of improving knowledge and information flows for teaching staff. This includes the development of a one-stop-shop website/platform that helps teaching staff navigate online resources about teaching and learning at Maastricht University.

Together with our educational experts and communication officer(s), you will be working on the development of the one-stop-shop, working in content management systems (e.g. Wordpress and/or Drupal). Furthermore, you will work on the further development of the Tool Wheel and Tool Box, preferably transferring it to HTML-5. You bring the technical expertise needed and have an interest in developing an accessible and engaging website for teacher development.

Background

In the past two years UM has gained a multitude of experiences leading to the conclusion that the use of technology can strengthen and enrich our problem-based-learning concept, if well-designed. The recently initiated TEE-programme  aims at embedding the lessons learned from the lockdowns, in a sustainable way. The main objective of the TEE-programme is to optimise the support for teaching staff, based on well-founded didactic principles and create room for innovation. By doing this, we aim to improve the implementation of blended learning within our PBL-context.

The TEE-programme operates under the banner of EDLAB , the Maastricht University Institute for Education Innovation. At EDLAB, we promote an optimal learning experience for students of Maastricht University by advancing the field of teaching and learning for both students and staff. We define innovation as the process of creating new ideas and practices to address educational needs – to do different things, and doing things differently.

EDLAB is located in the Tapijn Barracks, close to Maastricht’s city centre.

What are your duties & responsibilities?

  • You will work on the technical development of the one-stop-shop website/platform, aimed at supporting teachers in their educational responsibilities.
  • You work together with a great range of professionals from across the UM to find fitting solutions for the presentation of their content on our website/platform.
  • You will advise the team in technical decisions related to CMS issues and the EDLAB website.
  • You make proposals and take initiatives for improving and optimising the one-stop-shop website/platform, as well as the EDLAB website, and facilitating the upcoming integration with the interaction/social intranet that is currently under development at the UM.
  • You will collaborate closely with the communication advisor and project managers, in making sure all information is enclosed online in the right way.
