Are you passionate about developing research into real-life solutions? Do you enjoy developing innovative ways of collaboration between researchers and the public or private sector in order to develop a value for our society? The

Strategic Business Development (SBD)

team at the University of Twente can offer you that opportunity.

The SBD team develops partnerships between the university and its stakeholders with the objective of growing the university's impact. For our impact development activities, we are seeking partnership developers, stakeholder manager, and business developers to strengthen our growing team.

Can you add a new perspective to our team? We are excited to meet you!

The UT corporate focus and Key Enabling Technologies

To further develop our UT corporate theme "Shaping our world with smart materials", we are looking for an impact developer. Within the area of Key Enabling Technologies, your focus will be on integrated photonics, electronics, quantum technologies, and (micro) fabrication technologies. Developments in the Key Enabling Technologies have to be driven further to lead to disruptive innovations to achieve the societal challenges.

We combine research from different faculties and external partners around the Key Enabling Technologies along the lines of Sensing Science & Technology, Unconventional Electronics / Green ICT, and Energy Storage and Conversion, each aiming at applications in several Societal Challenges. We want to contribute to a fair, sustainable and digital society. Our research is challenge based and aims to make a concrete societal impact. To make this impact, we have set up focused research centres in e.g. quantum technologies, integrated photonics, living molecules and brain inspired nano systems.

We will further develop and extend our excellent research infrastructure and large existing national and international networks along these initiatives and we will instigate and coordinate research and funding initiatives, public private partnerships and project acquisition.

We have strong links with national programs such as Photon Delta and Quantum Delta, with the topsector HTSM and are well linked to the Semicon ecosystem in the Netherlands.

In this position, you are working in the Impact Development team of Strategic Business Development and will collaborate closely with the management of the MESA+ Institute and the lead researchers of specific KET initiatives/centers, being staff from different UT Faculties.

The position(s)

Your main activity is to identify the key stakeholders inside and outside UT, to connect these and to further develop a collaborative and lasting program. This involves that:

  • You are jointly responsible for establishing and putting together sustainable relationships with major industrial partners, governments and networks, including the development of propositions/roadmaps and acquisition of external funding in the area of Key Enabling Technologies.
  • You support, advise, and guide researchers and consortia within the organization, and expand the network of contacts.
  • You create, in close collaboration with the lead researchers and management, a vision and future plan for a selection of relevant topics.
  • You create support for your plans at all levels and you are closely involved in their implementation and evaluation.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member.
