Key takeaways
You will become part of a team working on the development of different material platforms for Integrated Photonics. In particular, this position deals with the development of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for the early detection and monitoring of sepsis. Sepsis is a highly deadly, complex and fast evolving disease, the fast detection of which is key to determine the correct treatment for each patient. In this project, you will work with a team of different academic, clinical and industrial partners to develop and validate a sensor for the early detection of sepsis.
You will be working on the design of the photonic integrated circuits and of the readout module as well as close interaction with the different consortium partners.
Information and application
Are you interested in this position? Please send your application via the 'Apply now' button below before April 21 and should include:
- A specific description of why you want to apply for the post-doc positions and why you are a good match for the team – please do not send general application letters.
- A detailed CV (resume) with publication list.
- An academic transcript of BSc and MSc education.
About the department
The Integrated Optical Systems group consists in average of 6-7 PhD students, 2-3 MSc students, 2-3 post-docs and several staff members. Our vision is to develop novel materials, devices and integration technologies for Integrated Photonics to solve societal problems. We are part of the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, which offers advanced characterization and fabrication tools at the nanoscale, as well as a stimulating scientific environment with more than 250 PhD students working on various aspects of nanoscience and technology.
In addition, we are part of a group of around 80 researchers that explore, within the research cluster Applied Nanophotonics (ANP), multiple aspects of modern photonics. These include technologies such as the development of materials, integration technologies, photonic assembly, packaging, and laser processing for applications including quantum optics, control of light scattering, photonics crystals, XUV optics, biomedical imaging, and sensing.
About the organisation
The Faculty of Science & Technology (Technische Natuurwetenschappen, TNW) engages some 700 staff members and 2000 students in education and research on the cutting edge of chemical technology, applied physics and biomedical technology. Our fields of application include sustainable energy, process technology and materials science, nanotechnology and technical medicine. As part of a people-first tech university that aims to shape society, individuals and connections, our faculty works together intensively with industrial partners and researchers in the Netherlands and abroad, and conducts extensive research for external commissioning parties and funders. Our research has a high profile both in the Netherlands and internationally and is strengthened by the many young researchers working on innovative projects with as doctoral candidates and post-docs. It has been accommodated in three multidisciplinary UT research institutes: Mesa+ Institute, TechMed Centre and Digital Society Institute.
