Tutorial Teacher 2d Year

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Deadline: ;

The Psychology Department of the FMG is looking for tutorial teachers in the 2nd year of our programme. In the first semester, you will work within the 2nd year of the shared bachelor programme, in a young, enthusiastic, self-directed team, with the freedom to share and incorporate your own ideas and initiatives. You will teach tutorials for the courses Scientific and Statistical Reasoning (SSR), Fundamentals of Psychology (FP), and Practical Training: Psychological Research (PT:PR). In the second semester, you will be involved in teaching in one of the different elective programs (‘Specializations’), depending on your specific background. Does this appeal to you? Then we look forward to hearing from you!

What are you going to do

  • You will work with groups of students to collectively explore the course material in-depth. You give feedback on research reports, essays, and other assignments of students and you assess these with a grade.
  • You are the mentor of the students in your groups: you’ll have (individual) mentoring meetings and you provide guidance for students in their learning process where needed.
  • Every Tuesday from 16.00-17.00 in the first semester, you attend team meetings in which we evaluate last week's tutorial meetings together and look ahead to the next week.
  • In the second semester, you will be involved in the department of your background, teaching tutorials for the different specializations/electives.

What do we require of you

You enjoy supervising groups of (international) students in the second year of their psychology studies. You like teaching academic skills such as data analysis (statistics), scientific writing, argumentation, and the philosophy of science. You are interested in teaching and innovating education, you want to develop yourself as a teacher, and reflect on your own skills. You have excellent communication and social skills and you can work well in a team.

Because we are a bilingual bachelor’s programme, we are looking for tutorial teachers who can teach either in English or in Dutch. Teaching will be on campus, if possible. We strive for a diverse team in which different perspectives are represented.

In addition, you have:

  • nearly or recently graduated in Psychology (or a strongly related field);
  • a background in, clinical psychology, clinical and developmental psychology, clinical neuropsychology, work and organizational psychology, social psychology, or brain and cognition);
  • proficiency in Dutch, English, or both;
  • good scientific writing skills and an excellent command of the respective teaching language;
  • preferably some teaching experience or experience in guiding groups.
