The department of Criminal Law and Criminology offers, inter alia, courses in the field of criminal law and criminal procedure, as part of our LL.B. and LL.M. programmes. Members of the department analyse crime, criminal law and criminal procedure from an interdisciplinary and legal perspective. The department is embedded in the Faculty of Law that offers an international classroom with students from over 20 different nationalities.

Applications are invited for an appointment as Assistant Professor (‘Universitair Docent’) in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure in the department of Criminal Law and Criminology of the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University. The starting date is 1 September 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a full time position, consisting of 65% teaching time and 35% research time. The initial contract is for 18 months, followed by a permanent contract subject to satisfactory performance.

The appointee will be expected to contribute to the development, coordination and delivery of teaching on the Faculty’s bachelor and master programmes. The appointee will also be expected to make a significant contribution to the Faculty’s research profile, by producing high-quality research, to be a cooperative member in the Criminal Law and Criminology section, to write research- and funding proposals, and to fulfil administrative duties.
