Job description
The Cognitive Neuroscience Department of the Radboudumc is embedded in the Donders Institute and thereby supporting teaching on the topic of neuroscience and related fields in different education programs run by the Radboudumc and Radboud University. To support our teaching the Cognitive Neuroscience Department of the Radboudumc seeks to employ an education focussed tenure track position to assistant or associate professor (based on experience) to carry out and develop engaging and innovative teaching in Medical Neuroscience and related fields.
This education tenure track is in the long term aimed at replacing a current associate professor in the department. Collaboration with this professor is in the early periods necessary, yet (development of) an own vision on teaching and own teaching roles is highly appreciated. The content of the teaching is focused on analysis and recording of (bio-)signals with a special focus on (human) cerebral electrophysiological recordings and modelling of (biomedical) processes.
In the long run, you are expected to also represent the department in educational committees and actively contribute to the administration of higher education at the Radboudumc and within the department. You should have a strong passion for higher education and medical neuroscience. You should be strongly committed to supporting efficient student learning and ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all participants.
Besides teaching, you should be able to conduct your own research as well as support the research conducted in the department. Your research should connect to several research groups in the Cognitive Neuroscience Department, the Donders Institute and the Radboudumc. Your previous publications and ideally third-party funding are located in the field of human brain electrophysiology.
You further should be able to demonstrate an excellent methodological competence and a passion for methods development, application and/or support. The successful candidate will have a plan how to connect to existing research within the department, the Radboudumc and the Radboud University.
Tasks and responsibilities
  • Coordinate and take part in educations activities in the curricula that are relevant to the Cognitive Neuroscience department.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Conduct and support research in human brain electrophysiology.
  • Teach (bio)signal recording and analyses and biomedical modelling to biomedical science and medical science bachelor and master students.
  • Develop into contribution to the organization of the education at department and Radboudumc level.

Requirements
We are looking for an inspiring, creative, and efficient teacher who utilizes modern teaching methods and has an interest in supporting and/or driving the development and implementation of such methods in the field of medical neuroscience.
You have a vision for the future of research and education within our department and are driven to contribute to a vision for education in medical neuroscience and (bio)medical science. You als have an interest in academic unifying leadership and education management.
Moreover you have:
  • A PhD in one of the fields represented in the department. There is a preference for a professional with a research track record in human cognitive neuroscience and a degree in physics, engineering or a related field.
  • Already achieved or will be able to achieve your University Teaching Qualification (BKO) within 2 years
  • An English language level of C1 and Dutch level of at least A3. Besides this you have the willingness to reach C1 after 3 years. 

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 5 years with a prospect to 1 permanent position.

  •  Salary depends on knowledge and experience. The scaling will be in scale 11 (maximum € 5.919) or in scale 12 (maximum € 6.717) gross per month on the basis of full employment.
  • From 1 November 2023 the wages will increase by 4%.
  • An annual vacation allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
  • If you work irregular hours, you will receive an allowance.
  • As a full-time employee (36 hours per week), you are entitled to approximately 168 vacation hours (over 23 days) per year.
  • Radboud university medical center pays 70% of the pension premium. You pay the rest of the premium with your gross salary.
  • You get a discount on health insurance as well: you can take advantage of two group health insurance plans. UMC Zorgverzekering and CZ collectief.
  • We provide annual courses, both professional and personal.
