Job description

The

Amsterdam Young Academy (AYA)

 is an independent platform where talented young scientists from different disciplines meet to develop views on science, scientific policy and how to build bridges between science and society in Amsterdam. AYA is an initiative of the University of Amsterdam and the Vrije Universiteit and was officially launched on November 6th, 2018.

We are looking for a student assistant to lead our communication initiatives and improve our presence among the academic community and society in general. Join us in shaping our communication landscape and making a lasting impact in both Amsterdam-based universities. You will be engaging with very talented scientists and the highest stakeholders from all different faculties of both UvA and VU, expanding your network and improving your communication skills.

Your duties

  • Develop and execute communication strategies
  • Create engaging content across various platforms (e.g., Linkedin, X, Webpage)
  • Manage media relations, agendas, and stakeholder communications
  • Assist with planning and organising the event program of 2023 and 2024

Requirements
  • Experience in communication skills (in Dutch and English)
  • Agile user of social media platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in creating and delivering effective messages
  • Enthusiastic and creative for successful campaign management
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

What are we offering?

Your appointment will be through the Faculty of Law of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

On full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of €2,618 (SA) and a maximum €2,846 (SA), depending on your education and experience. The job is vacant for at least 4 hours (0.1 FTE) but can be expanded to 8 hours depending on the available tasks. The appointment will be for an initial period of 9 months with a possibility of extension.
