The Center for European Studies (CES) and Maastricht Summer School (MSS), part of the Student Service Centre, are looking for a Student Affairs Officer.
Job description

As a Student Affairs Officer you will prepare, coordinate, and run Maastricht Summer School (MSS) as well as other short-term programmes at CES for students from around the world. Are you an innovative and independent thinker, who is able to carry a high degree of responsibility for your own duties? Are you able to handle tasks efficiently and accurately and manage your time well? Do you find it rewarding to support students in getting the best out of their study abroad experience? Do you enjoy working in a dynamic and international environment? Then CES and MSS are looking for you!

What will you do?

  • Preparing, coordinating and running Maastricht Summer School and its courses as well as short-term programmes.
  • Taking responsibility for the MSS and programme budget.
  • Organising and accompanying single day study trips.
  • Organising information sessions for international students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Networking with administrative and teaching staff at the various departments and faculties at Maastricht University as well as external stakeholders.
  • Recruiting students from all over the world to join our courses and programmes.

  • Planning and organising: maintains a good overview of tasks, dividing them methodically (action, time-management and resources), sets priorities and monitors progress, has a great talent for organisation;
  • Open-ness to and experience with cultural diversity is essential; knowing how to handle issues relating to cultural differences in an efficient and professional manner and an ability to demonstrate a high-level of interpersonal skills in this regard;
  • Collaboration: contributes to common goals of the organisation, even if it concerns subjects that do not directly belong to core duties, a hands-on mentality;
  • Ability to anticipate: can identify the consequences of given problems or developments and provide alternatives for eventual outcomes with a flexible outlook and approach;
  • Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken)
  • Very client and service-oriented;
  • Good experience of the complete Office-package
  • Knowledge of Maastricht University, experience in International Higher Education and knowledge of American culture is preferred. work experience? For example in higher education, sales, marketing and/or project management?

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: This concerns a temporary contract for a period of 1 year, with the prospect of permanent employment.

What do we offer?

We offer a 0.8-1.0 FTE position in an inspiring, service-oriented work environment, with the University Job Classification (UFO) profile of Student Affairs Officer, scale 8 of the CAO-NU and favourable secondary employment conditions.

The gross monthly salary mentioned is based on a fulltime appointment. Remuneration will be according to standard salary levels, depending on education and relevant work experience. This implies a gross monthly salary of minimum € 2.818,00 and maximum € 3.764,00, according to scale 8 of CAO NU. Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3%.

This concerns a temporary contract for a period of 1 year, with the prospect of permanent employment.

CES/MSS is a department of the SSC. The SSC caters to all UM students, supporting and enriching student life and preparing students for life after their studies.
