The faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) is currently recruiting a Student Affairs Officer. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague with a passion for the administrative educational process and who has a collegial attitude, to join our Team Exams at the Office of Student Affairs.
This office is responsible for the administrative process running smoothly and answering staff and student questions regarding administration issues.

Job description

As Student Affairs officer, you will start working in Team exams. You will perform the following tasks, after an initial training period, according to a schedule formulated by the team leader, whereby peak periods serve as a guiding principle:

  • Process exam results and execute related procedures at Team Exams;
  • Support tasks of the Staff Support Office. Ensure that scan-capacity is tailored to the amount of work and adhere to the official (quality) control protocols;
  • Support the exams coordinator.

Depending on the needs of the Office of Student Affairs and the personal development you go through, you could be affiliated to other teams and might be given other tasks.

Requirements

You:

  • Have completed a relevant MBO/MBO+ degree in the field of administrative work and/or evidence of experience in a similar job/intellectual level;
  • Have strong social skills and a flexible and proactive job attitude; 
  • Have the drive to deliver high-quality work and do not dislike bulk activities;
  • Are a team player who can perform tasks autonomously;
  • Are accurate, efficient, service-oriented and stress-resistant;
  • Have good English and Dutch language skills;
  • Can work with Microsoft Office applications, experience with SAP SLM and/or Corsa is a plus;
  • Are capable of giving and receiving feedback effectively.

Further details:

  • You will work with data, which is confidential and sensitive to fraud. Therefore, a discreet job attitude is a necessity;
  • Given our culturally diverse student population and teaching staff, we expect you to deal with differences respectfully;
  • Regarding working hours/days in peak periods, some flexibility is needed during six weeks per year on average (announced in advance);
  • You are open for tasks in other teams at the Office of Student affairs.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 2 years. Thereafter, in case of good performance and equal prospects for the faculty, a tenure appointment will be offered.

In terms of our organisation, you are a member of the Faculty Office/Office of Student Affairs. 

Specifically, we offer a 0.80fte / 1.0fte appointment for 2 years. Thereafter, in case of good performance and equal prospects for the faculty, a tenure appointment will be offered.

Remuneration will be according to standard salary levels, depending on education and relevant work experience, in salary scale 7 (between € 2.329,- and a maximum of € 3.144,- gross per month, based on a fulltime appointment) according to the collective labour agreement (CAO) of Dutch Universities (UFO-Profile Student Affairs Officer level 3 / Medewerker Studentzaken 3). A preliminary scale might apply in case the suitable candidate has yet to develop certain professional skills.

Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

You have to be willing to move to (the vicinity of) Maastricht. If you do not already live in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), you will be eligible for an allowance for moving costs. If you do not already live in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), you might be eligible for an allowance for alternative housing.

Other secondary conditions include e.g. a pension scheme and partially paid parental leave.

You will be provided with shared office space and a PC.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS)

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) has about 250 staff members, and about 1,600 students. More than 76% of the students are non-Dutch (64 different nationalities). All programmes are offered in English and some are also offered in Dutch. FASoS offers four 3-year bachelor’s programmes: Arts and Culture, European Studies, Digital Society, and Global Studies. It also offers eight different 1-year master’s programmes and two 2-year research master’s programmes. Research is organised around four programmes: Politics and Culture in Europe; Science, Technology and Society Studies; Arts, Media and Culture; and Globalisation, Transnationalism and Development. The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is housed in the historic city centre of Maastricht.
