Staff Scientist in Focused Ultrasound Stimulation at the Donders Centre for Cognition

Updated: 3 months ago
Deadline: today

Do you want to help realise a new key technology in neuroscience and medicine, at a top research institute? And do you want to work on ultrasound, a minimally invasive technology that could open exciting new horizons? Radboud University has launched the FUS Initiative to accelerate research and clinical translation. And we need a scientist in Focused Ultrasound Stimulation like you to make this a reality!

Your research will be at the vanguard of ultrasonic stimulation, keeping up with and driving the latest developments. We expect you to collaborate closely with many researchers and clinicians at Radboud University and the Radboud university medical center. You will support researchers applying for research funding and publishing their results. You will have the opportunity to co-supervise PhD candidates, supervise MSc students in their research projects, and supervise research assistants on a project basis.

As an institute-wide expert and independent researcher you will be one of the core staff of the Radboud FUS Initiative, embedded in the Technical Support team. You will take a leading role in developing the next generation of neuromodulation: transcranial ultrasonic stimulation. Your duties will be balanced between consultancy (40%), research (40%), and management (20%).

As one of the institute consultants in this domain you will be a source of knowledge and experience for researchers and clinicians on campus. For example, you will advise on study design and stimulation protocols, but also take a hands-on approach in training new users of the equipment. You will set up a training programme to ensure a strong foundation for know-how and safety. You will help standardise research and clinical translation. This includes setting up and maintaining standard operating procedures, and supporting safety and ethical assessment. You will help implement and develop scientific programming required for ultrasonic neuromodulation, such as planning and safety software.

We believe that the work you will do to help accelerate research at Radboud University should also benefit the field at large. We will support you to be an expert not only locally, but also internationally.
