The Donders Centre for Cognition, embedded in the Faculty of Social Sciences, has an opening for a service-oriented and independent all-round Management Assistant. We are a dynamic institute that is constantly moving forward in its field, where you can actively contribute your ideas about further optimising the organisation. In this way, you will help us maintain a pleasant and professional workplace for our scientists and management team. You will work in an informal environment with an open culture.
Together with two part-time colleagues, you will support the Institute's management. You will maintain close contact with management assistants from other units within the Institute, each with its own responsibility. You will work closely with the scientific director and management director and you will relieve them of all kinds of administrative burdens. You will act as a point of contact for queries from staff and external parties. You will handle telephone calls and manage (complex) agendas, emails and mailings, and occasionally take minutes. You will make appointments, reserve meeting rooms, order catering as well as make other practical and logistical arrangements (e.g. stock and material orders).

  • You know how to keep things organised in a dynamic environment.
  • You have planning and organisation skills.
  • You are open, accessible, involved, creative, enterprising, flexible and a real team player with a good sense of humour.
  • You are an energetic professional with a positive attitude towards innovation.
  • Preferably, you are used to working in a science environment with academic staff or have experience working with professionals in a large complex organisation.
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English and Dutch.

The Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour is a world-class interfaculty research centre, that houses more than 700 researchers devoted to understanding the mechanistic underpinnings of the human mind. We offer
  • It concerns an employment for 0.9 - 1.0 FTE.
  • The gross monthly salary amounts to a minimum of €2,471 and a maximum of €3,336 based on a 38-hour working week, depending on previous education and number of years of relevant work experience (salary scale 7 ).
  • You will receive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
  • It concerns a temporary employment for one year. There is a possibility of a fixed contract if the evaluation after one year is positive.
  • You will be able to use our Dual Career and Family Care Services . Our Dual Career and Family Care Officer can assist you with family-related support, help your partner or spouse prepare for the local labour market, provide customized support in their search for employment and help your family settle in Nijmegen.
  • Working for us means getting extra days off. In case of full-time employment, you can choose between 30 or 41 days of annual leave instead of the legally allotted 20.
