Are you an enthusiastic and experienced Research Technician? Are you dedicated to do research and education in environmental and food toxicology? We are looking for a Research Technician for our Division of Toxicology. Will you join our team?
What are you going to do:
The Division of Toxicology is dedicated to develop molecular-driven, mechanistic understanding of toxicological processes with respect to food and environmental health, and its translation into human and environmental risk assessment. With respect to environmental toxicology, you will be involved in lab and field based studies combined with in vitro tissue culture to elucidate mechanisms of action. A major aim of the research is to develop animal friendly, 3R approaches to be used in risk assessment.
In addition to your role in conducting this research you:
- will also be involved in supervision of PhDs and MSc students who work in our research as part of their education;
- will be co-organizing our practical courses, with emphasis on environmental toxicology;
- will have general tasks including ordering chemicals, maintenance of instruments, labs and stocks.
All together you’ll have a challenging position where no day will be the same.
We ask
- a higher-level qualification in environmental or life sciences or toxicology (minimum BSc- or MSc-level, PhD level is also possible);
- theoretical- and practical knowledge of in vivo studies as well as in vitro bioassays in the field of Environmental Toxicology, experience in field based work is desirable;
- being authorised to perform animal tests according to the Dutch law on Animal testing (article 9 or 12 authorisation);
- proactive team skills, willing to take responsibility for day-to-day functioning of laboratory facilities and with the additional ability to solve technical problems independently;
- an excellent command of the English language, both orally and in writing, and preferably an excellent command of the Dutch language in addition;
- affinity and experience in course management and teaching at undergraduate/graduate levels, as well as supervision of BSc/MSc thesis students is desirable.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between € 3.098,-. and € 4.670,-. for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the
Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU)(scale 9 or 10). Additionally, a contract for 0,8 FTE can be discussed.
