Deadline: 01 Jul 2023

  • Vacancies
  • Research Technician at Physics of Complex Fluids group

  • Key takeaways

You will provide technical support to (PhD) students and postdocs working on diverse projects, with an emphasis on advanced characterization techniques (e.g. optical and mechanical techniques that address interfaces at the micro/nano scale). Your portfolio will entail hands-on use (e.g. service measurements), interfacing, (micro) fabrication of parts and management of instruments. You will closely collaborate with, and clearly communicate your results to a diversity of students, early-stage researchers and the permanent staff.

    Information and application

For further information, please contact Prof. Dr. Frieder Mugele ([email protected], phone: +31 534893094) or Dr. Michel Duits ([email protected], +31 534893097). We would like to receive your application, consisting of a motivation letter, curriculum vitae and 2 names of referents by 1-July-2023 via the button below.

    About the department

Within the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology at the  University of Twente, the research of the PCF group  is engaged in understanding and controlling liquids and their interfaces from molecular to macroscopic scales. Our research connects fundamental phenomena in static and dynamic wetting, nanofluidics, microfluidic two-phase flow, colloids, functional surfaces and chemical reactivity at interfaces to practically relevant applications. In recent years, our application focus has shifted towards challenges of the energy transition and CO2 mitigation, such as photo-catalysis, mineral carbonation (olivine), biogas upgrading and advanced lubrication strategies, e.g. for electric vehicles and/or wind turbines.

    About the organisation

The Faculty of Science & Technology (Technische Natuurwetenschappen, TNW) engages some 700 staff members and 2000 students in education and research on the cutting edge of chemical technology, applied physics and biomedical technology. Our fields of application include sustainable energy, process technology and materials science, nanotechnology and technical medicine. As part of a people-first tech university that aims to shape society, individuals and connections, our faculty works together intensively with industrial partners and researchers in the Netherlands and abroad, and conducts extensive research for external commissioning parties and funders. Our research has a high profile both in the Netherlands and internationally and is strengthened by the many young researchers working on innovative projects with as doctoral candidates and post-docs. It has been accommodated in three multidisciplinary UT research institutes: Mesa+ Institute, TechMed Centre and Digital Society Institute.
