We are looking for

Are you eager to work in a dynamic and international research environment? As research technician, you support the Synthetic Organic Chemistry group with analytical measurements and maintenance of analytical equipment. This way, you help facilitate fundamental molecular research with an open eye to societal applications.


As a research technician, you will join the Synthetic Organic Chemistry group and support research with analytical measurements and maintenance of analytical equipment. This involves training Master's students, PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers how to use the equipment and frequent discussions with the researchers on analytical questions. It is essential that you are a team player, have an interest in scientific research and keep up to date with new developments in the field.
We ask
  • A Bachelor's degree in chemistry from a university of applied sciences.
  • Experience with mass spectrometry and HPLC techniques.
  • Experience with the maintenance of MS and LC equipment.
  • Eagerness to work in a dynamic and international research environment.
  • Affinity with training and providing technical assistance to Master's students and PhD candidates.
  • A good command of Dutch and English, and good communication skills.

You will be assigned as a research technician to the Synthetic Organic Chemistry group . The Synthetic Organic Chemistry group is part of the molecular chemistry cluster within the Institute for Molecules and Materials (IMM), which consists of five chair groups with a total of approximately 75 staff, including PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers, and has a large number of students.

The Institute for Molecules and Materials (IMM) is one of the main research institutes at the Faculty of Science (FNWI). IMM is a research institute in chemistry and physics that promotes interdisciplinary research. Its mission is to design and create functional molecules and materials to fundamentally understand their behaviour. IMM consists of 19 research groups active in fields ranging from condensed matter to organic chemistry and biochemistry. It focuses on fundamental research with an open eye to societal applications and trains the next generation of leaders in science and innovation. IMM distinguishes itself from similar institutes by the intensive collaboration and interaction between chemists and physicists and/or experimentalists and theorists and an excellent infrastructure including the Scanning Probe Laboratories, Laser Labs, Magnetic Resonance Research Centre, High Field Magnet Laboratory and Free Electron Laser Laboratory (HFML-FELIX).

We offer
  • Employment: 0.5 FTE (or 1.0 FTE in combination with the vacant position of Supervisor Synthetic Chemistry Lab Courses).
  • The gross monthly salary amounts to a minimum of € 2,968 and a maximum of € 4,078 based on a 38-hour working week, depending on previous education and number of years of relevant work experience (salary scale 9 ).
  • In addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
  • Duration of the contract: 1 year.
  • The intended start date is 1 October 2021.
