Research Grants Advisor

Updated: over 1 year ago
Deadline: 31 Oct 2022

Would you like to help researchers improve the quality of their research proposals? Then you have a part to play as grant advisor research funding at Radboud University. You will directly engage with researchers to help them to attract funding, making it possible for them to conduct important research and make an impact.

We are looking for a new colleague in our Grant Support and Projects (GSP) team. GS&P supports researchers in acquiring research funding. Our approach to grant support is hands on. We directly engage with researchers in the proposal writing process, and actively review and restructure proposal texts, align proposals with funding requirements, help write specific sections of proposals, and prepare researchers for interviews. You will work in a team of well-experienced grants advisors (approx. 13 strong) and will also work closely together with grants support staff at the faculty level.

As a grants advisor you will be working on research proposals together with research staff employed at Radboud University. Your job will be to help researchers improve the quality of research proposals aimed at external funders (mainly the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and EU). As part of the University's central grants support team you will work closely together with support staff at the faculties (financial, legal, local grants support), and will work for a great variety of disciplines (although specialisation within the team is possible). In some of the funding programmes we work directly on behalf of, and closely together with, Radboud University's Executive Board.

You will have the opportunity to specialise yourself in one or more of the main research funding programmes. You may also choose to act as an all-round grants advisor. In any case, your role is hands on: you will help review and restructure proposal texts, act as a source of knowledge and expertise on specific funding schemes, organise mock interviews, co-write certain parts of proposal texts (such as sections on data management, governance, impact, etc.), to obtain the necessary agreements to finalise the applications (i.e. obtain formal approval from the University's legal and financial departments and executive body). You will also play a key role in disseminating information on specific funding schemes and on new developments in the 'grants landscape' to Radboud University researchers. To do so, together with other team members, you will establish connections with funding organisations and other essential networks to obtain such information. The key funding programmes our team focuses on include NWO Talent, ERC, Horizon Europe, NWO Consortia Projects, Marie Curie and NWO Open Competition.
