Are you interested in doing research in the domain of psychology, and in particular to contribute to the study of emotional expressions across cultures? Are you familiar with the process of conducting empirical research and have good knowledge of statistics? Do you have good project management skills and are good at working as part of a team? We are looking for a highly motivated candidate for a research assistantship (0.8fte-1.0fte), starting immediately, to help support a research project funded by an NWO grant awarded to Dr. Disa Sauter and PhD student YongQi Cong. 

The project will be conducted within the Social Psychology program group at the University of Amsterdam. Within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences , the discipline of Psychology offers a range of Bachelor's and Master’s degree programmes, while its research is carried out at the Psychology Research Institute (Psyres ) .

What are you going to do

We are looking for a research assistant to carry out a range of research related tasks The successful applicant will work primarily with YongQi Cong, who is based at the DepartmentofPsychologyoftheUniversityofAmsterdam.

Your task will includes:

- Programming surveys and studies;

- (Quantitative) data analysis;

- Participant recruitment and data collection (online and in the lab);

- Data management & project documentation;

- Other administrative tasks.

What do you have to offer

The ideal applicant will have an affinity with conducting research in psychology and have an interest in the topic of the current project. They are also well-organized and pro-active in problem-solving. They should meet the following criteria:

Your profile:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in psychology
  • Good knowledge of statistics and proficient in data analysis (preferably using R)|
  • Relevant administrative and project management skills
  • Good English proficiency
  • Committed and able to work between 32 and 38 hours a week until the end of 2023

What can we offer you

The position concerns temporary employment of 32-38 hours per week for a fixed term of 9 months starting from 1 April, 2023.

The salary for this position is between €2402 and €2611 per month depending on experience and based on full time employment, This is in accordance with salary scale 6 for a research assistant as per the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities .

We additionally offer an extensive package of secondary benefits, including 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
