Offer Description

Cities and regions have turned to living labs to address pressing socioecological challenges and realize systemic change. Living labs, as physical, experimental spaces, orchestrate new forms of collaboration between diverse actors who co-create and test innovations in real-life settings. Living labs are forms of open innovation, where end-users of the innovation (citizens, companies, institutions) actively participate in the research, development, and innovation process. While many living lab frameworks for mutual learning, innovating, and testing have been developed, we still lack clear methodologies of how successful innovations and/or lessons learned can be best organized and implemented on a broader scale. Our project aims to understand how inter-organizational relations between public and private partners can help or hinder innovation in living labs, focusing on making local, temporary innovations more lasting and widespread.
