Job description

The project support team (Research Management Services, Faculty of Humanities) is looking for an enthusiastic, proactive project officer. In the first period you will work for the projects of Prof. Beatrice de Graaf. She is a historian of international relations and a scholar of terrorism, conflict and security and participates in international and national debates on terrorism and security, in academia but also in the printed and broadcasted media.
What will you be doing?

  • You ensure that the research activities are correctly registered in the research information system of UU (Pure) and are made visible on the profile pages of the researchers involved.
  • You are responsible for the practical organisation (inviting guests, technical briefings and contact studio), preparing content briefings and moderating the podcast Terrorism and Political Violence.
  • You support the Security History Network in developing and maintaining a website and you are responsible for the organisation of events.
  • You support the project manager in organising workshops, events and meetings.
  • You are responsible for the practical and substantive preparation of meetings and gatherings, i.e.. preparing presentations.
  • You support various research activities and you are willing to support other research projects within the Faculty of Humanities in the future.

Qualifications

We look for someone who:

  • is well organised, able to set priorities and actively looking to solve problems. Able to work simultaneously on several projects;
  • is a thorough planner; proactive and able to find his/her way around a large organisation;
  • is accurate and aware of the importance of open science and documenting the results of scientific research;
  • is preferably experienced in managing website and blogs;
  • has strong interest in research and has an affinity with research themes History of international relations, security and terrorism;
  • is academically trained and have completed his/her studies in the field of History, International Relations, Political Science or a related discipline;
  • is a good writer and has an excellent command of both Dutch and English;
  • can work independently and is a good communicator.

Offer

We offer a temporary position (0.8 FTE) for one year in an international working environment. In case of a good performance, an indefinite employment is one of the possibilities. The minimum gross salary is €2,920  and the maximum gross salary is €4,012 (scale 9 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year. Research Management Services is one of them and consists of three teams: the research support team (grant office), the project support team and the research coordinators team. The employees of these teams support researchers with their grant applications and ongoing projects. They also coordinate research and postgraduate education within research institutes, national research schools and centers of expertise. Some employees of the strategic theme Institutions for Open Societies (IOS) and a PhD mentor are also part of Research Management Services.
