Project Manager: Biotech Academy Delft

The foundation aims to deliver the state-of-the-art knowledge and skills in industrial biotechnology and environmental biotechnology to industrial and academic researchers. Its advanced courses uniquely combine latest theoretic concepts with practical skills training, using the advanced infrastructure of the Department of Biotechnology at Delft University of Technology and the Biotech Campus Delft. Each course has a course board consisting of academic staff members of the Department, while courses also feature expert guest speakers. Since 2012 the foundation’s office also overlooks the development and maintenance of relevant MOOCs. The office consists of a coordinator, a secretary and a part-time financial controller. The Foundation Manager reports to the foundation Board, which has an independent chairman from industry and 5 members from Delft University of Technology, Leiden University and Biotech Campus Delft.

The foundation seeks to continually adapt its strategy, course portfolio and teaching methods to innovations in science, technology and education. We are looking for a Manager, who will not only lead the office but also, in close collaboration with the academic staff of the Department and the Board, will develop and implement a strategic program for the foundation’s activities. The new Office Manager will thereby play a central role in fulfilling the foundation’s ambition to consolidate and extend its profile and impact as a world-class provider of post-initial courses.

  • Networker with ability to identify needs and opportunities in world leading post-academic education and training in biotechnology related fields

The Department of Biotechnology addresses all relevant levels of organization in biotechnological processes: discovery, characterization, and engineering of enzymes as molecular catalysts; physiology, systems biology and engineering of microbial cells and cellular networks; ecophysiology of microbial populations; design and integration of unit operations in industrial and environmental bioprocesses and analysis of socio-economic impact. We also engage in research on pharma- and food-related topics, such as production and purification of biopharmaceuticals, cultivation of red blood cells for clinical applications and innovations in brewing.

The Biotech Academy Delft is a non-profit foundation linked to the Delft University of Technology department of Biotechnology.
