Organisation

The Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) is responsible for education and research in a broad range of bèta- and technical disciplines, from classic disciplines such as mathematics, physics and biology to interdisciplinary disciplines such as artificial intelligence, nano-sciences and chemical technology. The faculty has 10 research institutes. A large part of the research is covered by the four facultary themes Adaptive Life, Molecular Life and Health, Advanced Materials, and Data Science and Systems Complexity. The Faculty has 14 Bachelor programmes and 27 Master programmes that encompass over 7,000 students.

Within FSE the educational support for students and teachers is organized by six educational clusters of the School of Science and Engineering (SSE). The position will be embedded within the Biology cluster that is housed in the Linnaeusborg at the Zernike campus.


Job description

The programme coordinator is responsible for the planning and coordination of the education in the international Erasmus Mundus Master programme in Evolutionary Biology (MEME). The coordinator is the contact person for the international partner universities, maintains the Erasmus Mundus status, manages the student selection, registration and funding process, and monitors student progress and well-being. Within the University of Groningen you are part of the cluster team Biology. Together with the management assistant, academic advisor and programme director you are responsible for the daily management of the MEME programme.

Tasks:

• ensuring and monitoring all matters necessary for the smooth running of the educational Evolutionary Biology program (timetables, quality control)
• contributing to a properly functioning educational organization, such as student administration, (financial) regulations and information (visa, insurances, grants)
• coordinating the annual selection procedure of the students
• safeguarding progress and well-being of the students and mediating when necessary
• contact point for and communication with the European Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission and the partner universities of the programme
• organizing programme activities such as the summer school and diploma ceremony
• manage scholarships: grant scholarships to students
• advising and supporting those responsible for education in maintaining and improving the quality
• contributing to the preparation of the financial reports of the programme
• contributing to the team development of the cluster team
• liaising with programme coordinators in other clusters, policy staff and other relevant colleagues within FSE.


Qualifications

The candidate will:

• possess an academic degree
• have affinity with research, education and organization of academic (preferably biology related) education programmes
• be strongly skilled in analytical thinking and project management
• have minimal three to five year work experience, standing firm, with good communication skills
• have team spirit, a tolerant and flexible personality with a proactive attitude
• be highly competent in communicating in the Dutch (B2) and English (C1) language
• have expertise in supporting ICT-systems such as Progress, Brightspace, Ocasys and Formdesk. Competent with Microsoft Office applications.


Conditions of employment

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

• a salary, depending on age, education and experience with a minimum of € 2,960 and a maximum of € 4,670 (salary scale 10) for a full-time position (1.0 FTE)
• a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual income and ann 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance
• minimum of 29 holidays and additional 12 holidays in case of full-time employment
• an employment for one year, after a positive evaluation it will be a permanent contract.
