An ambitious university requires dedicated support to its scientists, students, and colleagues. The department Library and Information Services (LIS) plays a key role within the fields of (Research) Data Management, IT, and Open Science. The team Privacy Operations is centrally positioned within LIS and consists of five Privacy Officers and an Administrative Assistant.

The TU/e is looking for an enthusiastic Privacy Officer, with legal knowledge and affinity with research and artificial intelligence (AI), in light of the upcoming EU AI Act.

Job description

As a Privacy Officer, you will be part of the central Privacy Operations team. The main focus of your work will be improving privacy maturity at the departments (faculties). You will support the first line of privacy support and the departments in implementing measures to ensure GDPR compliance. In your work you will give advice to all kinds of clients (from managing directors to researchers, teachers and support staff). For that reason, we are looking for a Privacy Officer with good networking and communication skills.

In your work you will contribute to improving the privacy maturity levels of the Departments together with your colleagues in the team Privacy Operations. Examples of your work will include:

  • Providing solution-oriented legal support or advice on subjects ranging from research to education and business management.
  • Developing, updating and implementing privacy frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Assessing the risks of new applications or processing activities.
  • Monitoring (new) processing activities, supporting the development and maintenance of the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA).
  • Handling data breaches and data subject requests.
  • Advising and providing legal support in external partnerships by drafting privacy agreements (e.g., data sharing, joint controller and processing agreements) or consent forms.
  • Performing and reviewing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
  • Supporting in complex or sensitive cases.
  • Participating in various consultive structures and collaborative ventures within or outside the organization.
  • Contributing to privacy awareness within the organization.
  • Supporting AI Act implementation within the organization from a data privacy perspective.
