Offer Description
As postdoctoral researcher you will work on our existing individual participant data meta-analysis (IPDMA) database on the effects of parenting interventions for behavioral problems in children and adolescents. The goal of this project is to improve our understanding what works (i.e., which techniques) and for whom (which families) these techniques are effective in parenting interventions. Currently data from 23 trials from all over the world is available, and this number is increasing rapidly. For this project, the main aim is to establish which therapeutic techniques used in parent training work best for which families, to ultimately be able to personalize these interventions better to the families in need. The large number of participants in this dataset (N>2000), however, allows to answer many more questions and the postdoctoral researcher is encouraged to come up with own research questions in addition to the proposed plan.
Requirements
Specific Requirements
- Contact with researchers to ask them to contribute data to our project.
- Integrate data from different trials.
- Conduct advanced statistical analyses, accounting for the multilevel structure of the data, where you answer the question which therapeutic techniques are most effective for whom.
- Write international peer-reviewed academic papers.
- Present your work at international and national conferences for academics, policy makers, and clinicians.
What we ask from you:
- You successfully defended your PhD or will do so soon.
- You get excited by parenting interventions for children with behavioral problems, complex statistics and large datasets.
- You have strong methodological and statistical skills.
- You get energy from cooperation and function best in an enthusiastic team.
- You have strong interpersonal skills and are able to motivate and mobilize others.
- Proficiency in academic written and spoken English.
Nice-to-haves:
- You have competence in project management skills.
- Experience with or knowledge of growth modeling.
The UMCG has a preventive Hepatitis B policy. The UMCG can provide you with the vaccination, should it be required for your position.
In case of specific professions a ‘Certificate of Good Conduct’ is required.
Additional Information
Benefits
You will be employed for 2-6 FTE (8 to 22 hours a week) for 24 months, which can be determined jointly. There is no need to be physically present in Groningen on a weekly basis, both supervisors are also based in Amsterdam. Your salary will be a maximum of € 5.292 gross per month (scale 10), depending on your qualifications and relevant experience, based on a full-time appointment. In addition, the UMCG will offer you 8% holiday pay, and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The conditions of employment comply with the Collective Labour Agreement for Medical Centres (CAO-UMC).
