What does this job entail?
You will be conducting innovative research on Sustainable Global Economic Law (SGEL )-a unique interdisciplinary research project bringing together legal scholars across legal sub-disciplines to work on the interactions between global economic law, environmental and social justice issues. Besides your individual research projects, you will also actively contribute to the organization of international events and joint research projects, working within an interdisciplinary team. The research on SGEL forms part of a larger national collaboration under the topic "Transformative Effects of Globalization within Law" (TEGL ), a collaboration between four Dutch law faculties: Tilburg University, Maastricht University, Open University and University of Amsterdam that examines how law can foster just sustainability in global contexts. Finally, as part of your role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to teaching innovative courses in either international public or EU law.

Requirements
The successful candidate is a curious and creative researcher with a completed dissertation in international public law or EU law, and with an interest in carrying out high-quality work on law, globalization and sustainability. Prior experience with project management, and teamwork in diverse academic communities are assets. We particularly welcome applications from candidates from underrepresented backgrounds.
In addition, you have:
- A PhD in Law or a related discipline
- Excellent command of English
- A proven track-record of excellent research
- Teaching experience in international public law or EU law.
Conditions of employment
We offer an employment contract for two years with a probationary period of two months. The start of employment should be as of 1 May, or as soon as possible thereafter depending on the availability of the successful candidate. The employment contract is for 38 hours a week.
Your salary, depending on your relevant experience on commencement of the employment contract, ranges between €3974 to €5439 gross per month on the basis of a full working week of 38 hours. This sum does not include the 8% holiday allowance and the 8.3% year-end allowance. The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU) is applicable.
