As a postdoctoral researcher, you will join the working group of Dr M. Wu and take a leading role in the Majorana neutrino searches at ATLAS. In addition, you will have opportunities to contribute to ATLAS phase-II upgrade projects. These opportunities exist in developments in the phase-II upgrade of the Front-End LInk eXchange (FELIX) readout system and in the High Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) project for the ATLAS Phase-II upgrade. You will be expected to closely collaborate with Dr Wu and the students in her group, as well as keep in close contact with colleagues from Nikhef (Amsterdam) and CERN (Geneva).
Profile
  • You should have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in particle physics.
  • You have good English skills and are able to work in a large team.
  • You should have expertise in data analysis techniques and software systems used in high-energy physics, as well as good programming (C++/Python) skills.

We are

The ATLAS group  is part of the High Energy Physics Department  at  Radboud University (Nijmegen), consisting of five staff members: Prof. N. de Groot, Prof. P. Ferrari (part-time), Dr F. Filthaut, Dr S. Caron and Dr M. Wu. We are deeply involved in physics data analysis, with a strong focus on Higgs physics and searches for 'physics beyond the standard model', we are especially interested in applying machine learning techniques in new physics searches.

In addition, we are leading development and deployment of the FELIX system to sub-detectors at ATLAS, and in research and development of next generation semiconductor detectors including the LGAD used for the ATLAS Phase-II upgrade project HGTD.

Radboud University is one of the founding partners of Nikhef, the national institute for subatomic physics in the Netherlands, and we maintain a close collaboration with our Nikhef colleagues in Amsterdam.
