Postdoctoral Researcher Novel Lignin Model Compounds

We are looking for

Are you a synthetic organic chemist with a PhD and an interest in natural polymers analysis and valorisation? Do you want to develop a brand-new synthesis of a library of lignin oligomers and challenge the lignin problem? Are you ready to work in a multidisciplinary team of researchers? Then this position is just right for you!

We are a consortium of researchers from Laboratory of Organic Chemistry (Wageningen University) and Biobased Products (Wageningen Food & Biobased Research). Jointly we are aiming to develop a biomimetic approach to access a library of lignin oligomers resembling the natural lignin. You are going to develop the synthetic route, execute it and apply synthesised library of compounds to i) advance the lignin analytical toolkit and ii) study (bio)catalytic conversions of lignin.

We ask
  • you have a PhD in organic chemistry;
  • you have extensive experience in the synthesis and characterisation of organic molecules;
  • you have interest in polymers and in lignin;
  • you have an interest in the application of biocatalytic/biomimetic approaches in organic synthesis;
  • you are ready to work and effectively communicate as a part of interdisciplinary team of researchers;
  • you are fluent in English (at least C1 level).

Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU)

(scale 10). Additionally, a contract for 0.8 FTE can be discussed.
