Are you a motivated scientist in the field of psychophysics and/or neuroscience, looking for the next step in your career? Then join the world-renowned Donders Institute as a postdoctoral researcher and work with top-notch experimental equipment to understand the neural mechanisms of sensory processing in complex multisensory environments.

Your research involves studying the eye-head gaze-orienting control system in complex multisensory re-orienting sensorimotor tasks in healthy volunteers and sensory deprived patients. Buzzwords: computational modelling, optimal control, multisensory integration, moving sounds, vestibular stimulation. Our mission is to understand the neural mechanisms of sensory processing and goal-directed motor control in complex multisensory environments, in health and disease. You will perform advanced psychophysical studies (recordings of 3D eye-head motor responses) with unique, top-notch experimental equipment.

Profile
  • You hold a PhD in psychophysics, biophysics, neuroscience, medical biology, bio-medical engineering, computational neuro-science, or a related field.
  • You are strongly motivated to conduct challenging, interdisciplinary, empirical and model-driven research.
  • You have experience with computational modelling, machine learning, and quantitative data analysis.

We are

As a postdoctoral researcher you will participate in research training programmes of the Donders Institute (with its 600 FTEs, the largest research institute at Radboud University), which will be tailored to individual interests. The Biophysics group within the Donders Centre for Neuroscience at the Faculty of Science studies sensory-motor integration in an interdisciplinary setting with unique state-of-the-art methodologies in well-equipped research labs and advanced computational facilities. The Donders Institute has a dedicated Graduate School, where PhDs and postdoctoral researchers are trained in modern research and analysis techniques and acquire an academic and ethical attitude towards the applications of systems neuroscience.
